Tiger Woods is a prime example of this American generations main character flaw; entitlement. He expects his cake and to eat it too. His bemoaning being scrutinized by the media/public for so-called personal indiscretions makes him appear as little more than a whining brat.

The truth of the matter is that he broke the social contract he had with the public wherin we were expected to view him as flawless in not only golf but in family life and in him as the perfect celebrity specimen as long as he behaved as such. The fact that he reneged on that deal but expects us to continue upholding our end is where his lamenting comes up hollow.

The public feeds on phonies unravelling in the spotlight. It's long been a favorite snack for the voyeur media consumer. So tough titty Tiger, you don't get to decide what we think of you anymore. You waived that right by behaving in contradiction to the image you designed of yourself in our minds. The public is not at fault for thinking negatively of you now that you've proven not to be what you claimed. In fact the public response is appropriate. We should always and regularly anhialate the phonies of our society so as to preserve truth. Doing so makes for a much more functional and fair culture and keeps those that we view as "in the lead" in check.

At the end of the day, people are the sum total of the choices they make. And your choices, Tiger, are on display in the public spectrum not by our design but by your design and that of your Father. The public didn't force this on you. It's not our fault that we know more about you now than you want us to. We just do. And hopefully we wont forget, even if you continue to be a winner at golf.
